What Are Peer Support Groups?
Peer support groups are structured community-oriented spaces where people who have lived experience with problematic substance use can gather to support one another in their recovery processes by providing each other with knowledge, experience, emotional, social, or practical help.
They extend the process of healing beyond a clinical setting into everyday living for those seeking to build sustainable long-term recovery.
Peer support groups are always flexible, confidential, and free of cost.
Our Peer Support Groups
Open Door Recovery Center embraces the philosophy that every person is different, and as such, everyone’s recovery is different, too. We work to support each person looking for help in their recovery by facilitating a number of diverse peer support groups throughout the week.
Most of our groups are offered in a hybrid setting, meaning you can participate either in person or virtually.
Click on any of the groups listed below for more information on their meeting locations and how to join virtually. If you are interested in starting your own group, or helping to facilitate a group that is not currently active at one of our centers, please reach out to us directly at ahicks@njprevent.com (Hunterdon) or jstephens@njprevent.com (Monmouth). Our space is here to benefit the recovery community!

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition-oriented fellowship based on the model pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous.
The only qualification for S.L.A.A. membership is a desire to stop living out a pattern of sex and love addiction. S.L.A.A. is supported entirely through the contributions of its membership and is free to all who need it.
To counter the destructive consequences of sex and love addiction, we draw on five major resources:
- Sobriety. Our willingness to stop acting out in our own personal bottom-line addictive behavior on a daily basis.
- Sponsorship / Meetings. Our capacity to reach out for the supportive fellowship within S.L.A.A.
- Steps. Our practice of the Twelve Step program of recovery to achieve sexual and emotional sobriety.
- Service. Our giving back to the S.L.A.A. community what we continue to freely receive.
- Spirituality. Our developing a relationship with a Power greater than ourselves which can guide and sustain us in recovery.
As a fellowship S.L.A.A. has no opinion on outside issues and seeks no controversy. S.L.A.A. is not affiliated with any other organizations, movements or causes, either religious or secular.
We are, however, united in a common focus: dealing with our addictive sexual and emotional behavior. We find a common denominator in our obsessive/compulsive patterns, which transcends any personal differences of sexual orientation or gender identity.
For newcomers: please visit the SLAA Greater Delaware Valley intergroup site here for resources and a directory of local meetings.

For more information, please call 609-621-SLAA (7522).
This meeting is CLOSED; we ask that all in attendance identify as sex and love addicts.

Harm Reduction is a set of practical strategies aimed at reducing the negative consequences of any action, especially drug use. Harm Reduction is built on the belief in and respect for the autonomous rights of all people who use or have used drugs. Join us to explore what Harm Reduction could mean for you, how we use it every day without even realizing it, how to combat stigma associated with drug use, and how we can support and empower one another to stay alive and increase our quality of life. For this meeting we will be following the Harm Reduction Works meeting structure. This meeting is open to those with the goal of abstinence and those with no desire to entirely suspend use as well as those considering beginning use of any drug. Harm Reduction believes you do not need to stop using substances to begin recovery.
